cDNA encoding the antimicrobial peptide Temporin-1Ta
cDNA encoding the small alpha-helical antimicrobial peptide Temporin-1Ta. The peptide has a high activity towards gram-positive bacteria, moderate activity against fungi and a low activity towards gram-negative bacteria. It interferes with cell membranes by causing permeabilization [1].
The lethal concentration of Temporin – 1Ta was normally between 1 to 12 uM for tested species [ 2].
Temporins are a group of antimicrobial peptides found in secretions of Rene temporia, European common frog. The peptide group interferes with cell membranes, causing leakage in bacterial cell membranes [3].
For more information of the peptide, see Uniprot record P56917 [1]
